The Culinary Historians of Washington, DC. seek to promote a greater awareness of culinary history as a field of study. An ongoing project is CHoW's Culinary History Collection in the library of the Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. This is a noncirculating collection, open to all, of books and periodicals on food and food history.
Volunteers from CHoW worked on setting up The Julia Child Kitchen at the Museum of American History (temporarily closed for renovation) Smithsonian Institution
Volunteers staffed a tent at the Folklife Festival on the Mall in 2005 to discuss and demonstrate cooking gadgets.
